It's hard to say, isn't it, did the man on the mark creep and therefore perhaps spook the player taking the kick?

Or, was the umpire focussed on the man on the mark and missed the movement off the line by the kicker? What it does perhaps indicate is that for such a kick after the siren, the umpires need to get set up perhaps with one in line with the kicker and the man on the mark to observer the deviation off the line of the kicker, whilst another has to be like the square leg umpire and adjudicate the man on the mark.

But, even so, in a which player flinched first situation, it's very difficult for the umpires to get right. A bit like run outs in cricket, and they've resorted to slow mo replays.
