Surely, the AFL will coordinate this game via the NZAFL? There have been many AFL SHOW CASE games played in NZ over many years! The main reason the AFL would seriously look at Wellington is because of their wonderful ground, (the Cake Tin) which can cater for such a match and games have been played their before. No other city (not even Auckland) have grounds suitable at this stage. The AFL competitions in Wellington, Christchurch and Hamilton are very small compared to Auckland (both seniors and juniors) and its a shame Auckland dont have a suitable ground. Hawthorn FC have been supporting junior footy in NZ and it would be great to see an ALL AUSTRALIAN AMATUER side take on a NEW ZEALAND HAWKS NATIONAL team as a curtain raiser. (regardless of the result) Sparc has been good supporters for many years and if the AFL is ever going to become a global game, it is Auckland with its population and closeness to Melbourne (2 hours by plane) and the ANZAC Spirit that exists between the two countries, is where they should expand to. This is one small step towards that dream!
