Great review, Brett. With so much happening across the world it is becoming harder to see Australian Rules football as a niche market for Australians and ex-pats. The game now seems to have truly transcended beyond that point into a legitimate sport on the honour roll of many countries and all continents bar Antarctica (still onto those penguins). The poll is interesting as it allows a single selection, when there are many. Most people will choose according to their role in the game, or personal interest, or emotional attachment. My favourites, however, are the ones which hint at expansion. India, new teams in France and possibly another Scandinavian country, whispers of expansion in South Africa, new teams in China...the list goes on. In fairness, it's not all beer and skittles. Bahrain in the Middle East could not field a team this year and Karsiyaka, in Turkey, still sits in the history books. But on balance, the code is way ahead of where it was when you last wrote one of these 12 months ago. Onwards and upwards Aussie Rules, and I am simply in awe of the people across the world who keep pushing day in and day out to make us greater and greater.
