Being a member of the Boomerangs squad is a tremendous experience and a great honour. At least, that's what i've been told by the three former Boomerangs that I have been lucky enough to coach (our club has had four Boomerangs selected in the past four years). Each of the boys has spoken of the great responsibility they have felt towards their families, by making them proud and repaying the faith of those families by being selected and playing well. Our club does not have any members this year, but many boys in our almost wholly indigenous team aspire to being a "Boomerang" one day. Good luck to all those selected for the trip to South Africa this year and let's hope it leads to bigger and better things. (My most recent Boomerang managed two matches last year with the Gold Coast Suns reserves, so there is certainly a pathway to follow).
