World and South Pacific teams to return for fourth tournament

Sunday 7th July is a date which captures our imagination uip here in Cairns. It is the clash between the Flying Boomerangs indigenous team and the South Pacific team. Four of our club's players have represented the Boomerangs between 2008 and 2011. It is an aspiration of many of our indigenous kids to make to that side. Two boys from our club are going to the Kickstart Championships next week to be part of the Queensland squad, and it would be remarkable if one or both of them could make it.

The South Pacific aspect comes from those boys travelling to Fiji with the Flying Boomerangs and playing there and making friends. That friendship till exists with our club having links with junior football in Suva, particularly the Raiwaqa Bulldogs.

So whilst we await the entire carnival, we have our own affinity with that one particular match. The upcoming carnival in Townsville (article coming soon) will determine if we add more Flying Boomerangs to our club's "Hall Of Fame", and indeed the whole of North Queensland.
