“Dreamtime By The Sea” & Walk for Reconcilliation

This day was a great success. Prior to the parade itself the crowd of about 300 people heard a variety of speeches and acknowledgements from representitives of the indigenous people of the area as well as organisers of the event.

Once the parade started, it was a delight to see the white Reconciliation balloons and caps within the crowd as the group moved, happily chatting and mingling with curious tourists and onlookers, along the Cairns Esplanade.

North Cairns Tigers defeated the Cairns City Lions 26 18 174 to 12 10 82 in the Dreamtime By The Sea match that followed.

The event has struck a positive chord with locals and it is hoped it will grow continually over coming years to be a powerful feature of Cairns football into the future.
