Victoria won the Div 1 finals (no surprise there) and ACT won the Div 2 finals. (Won't reveal any more as Wes will have an article on the way)

For everyone in Canberra, isn't this a great indication of how much the popularity of the sport has grown at grassroots level if the ladies are trumping football strongholds like SA. Here's hoping football continues to grow in popularity in ACT and wouldn't it be great if you got your own AFL team one day too (so long as they sponsored the women's league!)

Unfortunately SA may have been a men's footy stronghold but the women's version was disturbingly almost non existent up until recently. The SA women's league dropped to just 3 or 4 clubs (and teams) a few years ago, at the same time as it was going from strength to strength in Vic, WA and even not-so-heartland QLD.

Happily this started to turn around a short few years ago and suddenly there were 8 teams last year, 9 this year.
