Countdown to Cairns - Suns v Tigers

Well, we gave everything we could. Cairns turned on the wind, the rain, the sun and most weather patterns in between. Over 11,000 fans flocked into Cazalys Stadium in our beautiful northern city to watch any or all of the following. Could Richmond break their Cairns hoodoo? Could Gold Coast win here again and keep their finals hopes flickering?

Would it be the Gary Ablett show? Or Cotchin, Deledio, Reiwoldt, O'Meara?

Or would the local crowd get to see their own local boy, Jarrod Harbrow, turn it on?

Well, it is no exaggeration to say most of the above happened as the Richmond Tigers 6 17 53 defeated the Gold Coast Suns 6 8 44.

Sadly, this was the last of the three matches contracted for Cairns. Richmond has made it clear that they will focus on the bigger Melbourne venues for their 60,000 members. Gold Coast want to come back, but at the moment don't have a dancing partner. We have certainly earned the right to host more games, and have a wonderful venue. We will just have to work hard to attract other clubs to visit our home.

SOS...Essendon? Melbourne? St Kilda..........????
