Another Thought :-)

Maybe the AAFC could send/email the Prospectus Brochure to each of the state league clubs around Australia, along with an invitation for the donor clubs to come and play an exhibition match on their next end of season trip, on the AAFC's newly completed oval :-)

Football leagues have to be run like businesses with each cost being a percentage of the accounting pie. Yet it is when leagues move onto cost/benefit analysis that exciting things happen. Like when the WA, SA, and Vic leagues invested in their own grounds or the AFL invested in NSW and Qld to ultimately establish the Suns and .GWS. Outside of Australia the AFL has invested in the RSA, PNG and now NZ hoping that large numbers of juniors will form community clubs and ultimately produce more AFL players.The Northern Hemisphere is at an obvious disadvantage of distance. The creation of AFL Europe has been a big boost to the co-ordination of football in Europe and this has seemed to enthuse some leagues. The one-off cost of $12,000 on top of the $18,000 raised seems like a small amount in the scheme of things to create a home of Australian Football in Croatia. IMO it is very important to see the impact of this event - whether it is seen as just a handy addition to the local sporting scene or a tremendous boost to football that can be used as a blueprint elsewhere. The Tulsa buffaloes talk about the need for sporting "legitimacy" to help with promotion and having your own ground is huge leverage in that direction.

Trawling thru some websites and have found that Croatian Footy might have taken even another step in expanding footy there.

Seems like a new club has been created in the city of Slavonski Brod (on the border with Bosnia) and the team is being primed to play in the Croatian League this year.

Along with the development of their new OVAL, it seems it's all happening down Croatia way at the moment :-)
