A few years ago the Madrid Bears were playing the Mostoles Kangaroos (9-a-side) in the AFL Spain 'league'.

Any word on whether that competition is still going?

Catalonia (Barcelona) fielded a side in Euro Cup last year but seems 'domestic' league (numbered 4 teams a few years ago) is not active at present time.

In your research were you able to ascertain the state of play at/in AFL Catalunya. Their website is no longer accessible.

Even at the time of the Euro Cup it was difficult to make contact with anyone from the Catalonian crew. We didn't even manage a genuine preview article. All i got was that the guys were jumping in a couple of cars to drive to Bordeaux and have a good time (which is a great spirit, but doesn't suggest strong future development). In fact much of my information came from Douglas pate in Andorra and the crew in Madrid. I will keep investigating. They are well placed to link with the influx of clubs in the southern half of France, with Pau, Perpignon relatively close so the prospect of occasional friendly matches exists.
