World Team 2014 squad announced

Don't think it can be really called the World XVII team any more with only 2 from outside Australia playing. Surely it has to be renamed as a multicultural Australian team.
Is this another example of the AFL (world ruling body) giving up on world development when immediate success is not achieved?
eg. AFL/AIS v European Titans in Europe matches (only twice), AIM at IC (only once)

Makes ya wonder what was expected when AFL(WRB) introduced the concept a couple of years ago.

Was growth in development and promotion of international footy (world players going home enabled with the experience to further improve the standard of footy in own country) the top priority or was the chance of finding a rooky player (as at combines) the higher priority or expectation?

Not knocking the concept that has evolved but why not retain the original concept and have the multicultural team as well?

Yeah have to agree, I have no problem with a multicultural team being in it, but call it that, it's no longer a World Team as per the original concept.

I assume they went away from simply giving the best internationals a chance, to wanting to find AFL quality multicultural talent. A shame and a backward step in international development.---
