AFL Victoria to establish women's state league

This is good news with one caveat. I do worry that women's footy is way ahead in Victoria and as we build towards a national league it seems there is a massive investment going on in Victoria that will only push it further ahead, making it hard to have a balanced national comp. Some of that is coming locally, some from AFL HQ.

The worst thing for the game would be if the national comp was so unbalanced that non-Vic sides gained little interest and therefore ratings. And the players for each team will mostly have to come from the state the team is based in, given players are unlikely to move for what I imagine will not be a full time job, at least in the early years.
