2021 VFLW International Player Preview

It's great to see a new writer adding content on worldfootynews. Welcome Val.

All those years we were dreaming of increasing the international player numbers and, admittedly as a secondary interest, keen to see female player numbers grow, little did we know that the two would combine so rapidly.

Again I reiterate how much I'd love to see Ireland challenge Australia in women's footy. Combine the best AFLW Irish players with a few from the Irish national footy team and perhaps lure 3 or 4 top Gaelic players and have the first ever truly international Australia's best vs another country, in Aussie Rules. ARFLI or an independent group should put together a proposal, throw out the challenge, if needs be stir up the AFLW women with some social media videos.

I'm sure the Aussie women would love the chance to represent their country. Yes covid is a showstopper, but throw it out there as a challenge as soon as that situation eases. It may need to be done soon before the AFLW gets too far ahead in professionalism.
