Thanks for the feedback, Cam. Yes, when I pose a question in s tory it is usually rhetorical as I already have my own opinion - I just try to elicit other opinions along the way.

I wholly agree with your arguments and examples. Our little match up here certainly has validity because it mirrors what I have read, seen and heard from people across the world - whether they be talking about wholly women's/girl's teams or mixed. The women's game IS closing the gap on men's, just slowly. But it is within the realms of possibility that women's improvement is incrementally greater than men's which suggests that over time the evolution will see women so connected physically to the demands of the game that only talent will be questioned.

My one piece of compelling evidence up here was the ferocity with which the girls played - legally. It was the talent of the boys that got them home - it was the physicality of the girls that kept them in the game.

I think that another factor is belief. When people believe in the women's game and actively try to develop and grow it, the response is enormous.

I am going to a local meeting later today which will look to resurrect a local Gordonvale club after the demise of Pyramid Power last year. A huge part of my evidence to push for a new entity is how far girl's footy has come in our community. I would love to think we are not alone in seeing that.
