World Rankings as at 24 November 2012
There is currently no official system of World Rankings for Australian Football, as the international game is still mostly amateur, still maturing and there are often difficulties in nations having all their best players available. However, due to popular demand, worldfootynews.com has been providing rankings since 2006. Below are the rankings as at 24 November 2012.
This is the first update since 28th August 2011 which was immediately after the 2011 AFL International Cup.
Fiji enter the full rankings at number 11 following their 0 - 3 series loss to Nauru, who moved one spot into 5th at the expense of South Africa.
The only other match since the last update was the USA defeating Canada which did not change the rank of either country.
Samoa last played an international over four years ago so now fall back to provisional (dormant).
It's notable that Spain is now within a year of falling off the ranks altogether (8 year cutoff rule) having not played a full field match for over 7 years.

* Nations marked in grey with an asterisk have played less than eight (8) matches under our criteria, and currently hold provisional ranking points, but are not yet officially ranked.
** Spain has not played for more than 7 years and so would be provisionally ranked either way. They must play an eligible match by 13/08/2013 to remain on the list (8 year cutoff rule). Samoa must play by 05/09/2016 to stay on the list.
