The Collingwood Magpies have their own webcast known as CTV, and recently on their free coverage they had an interview with recent Irish signing Martin Clarke and followed their Brazilian born player "Harry" O'Brien back to his roots in Rio.
A star junior Gaelic football player, Clarke was recently added to Collingwood's International Rookie List. At time of writing his interview can be watched here:
Harry O'Brien is a young Magpies player who was born in Brazil and was drafted from Western Australia. Coach Mick Malthouse spoke glowingly of him in 2005 in Mick's wild about Harry. O'Brien returned to Brazil to visit his family and was struck by the poverty but also the cultural richness. He also took some Collingwood gear and Auskick footies. We wouldn't suggest this will sew the seeds of footy in that country, but who knows, maybe one day he will become an ambassador for the game in the way Mal Michael has in Papua New Guinea.
Both stories are currently (at time of writing) playing free on Collingwood TV here. Look for Introducing Martin Clarke and Harry's Homecoming.
