Looking at the internationals in the VFL this week the headline act was the ruck clash between Americans Mason Cox the International Rookie and Alex Aurricchio who went through the same combine as Cox but did not get picked up by an AFL club. The match was played as the curtain raiser to the AFL clash between Collingwood and Carlton at the MCG.
Cox not only with the advantage of the full time resources of the Collingwood Football Club and the Lexus Centre (see the Youtube clip below) but with an extra 13cm or so in height was the winner on the day with the Magpies home by 68 points. Aurrichio who is in Australia largely under his own steam and not at an AFL club had seven disposals, 8 tackles and 18 hitouts. Cox finished with 2 goals 1 behind, 11 disposals, 4 marks, 2 tackles and 21 hitouts.
