Trans-Atlantic Cup 2024 & WFN World Ranking Predictions

The WFN World Ranking scheme allows us to make predictions on match outcomes and movement up or down in Rankings during a tournament such as the IC’s or the upcoming Trans-Atlantic Cup, if we accept the premise that the Ranking Scheme predicts that the Higher ranked nation will win more often than not. A look back through the Records confirms that assumption*

Women’s TAC WFN World Rankings Predictions Day One Women

Game One: Ireland 2nd (54.16 Rating Points) v.  United States 8th (41.60) Rating Gap 12.56 greater than 10.00 therefore no points exchange and no movement in Rank. Ireland has a 2-0 record over the USA Freedom from IC11 and IC17 matches.

Game Two: Canada 3rd (53.61) v. Great Britain 4th (46.63) rating gap 6.98, +/- 0.91 points exchanged. The Ranking Scheme predicts that Higher ranked nations will win more often than not, then Canada would rise above Ireland into 2nd place with 54.51 points. Great Britain remaining in 4th place but a further 0.91 points above Fiji.

Great Britain Swans has a 1-0 record against Canada Northern lights however, the win at IC17. and if the Swans were victorious here then they would gain the maximum 3.00 points to finish with 49.63 points unfortunately not quite enough to displace Canada from 3rd place on 50.16 points.

Please Note: As the Trans-Atlantic Cup (along with Pacific Cup and Asian Cup) is in lieu of IC24 I have invoked the IC bonus for all the matches in these tournaments.

The winning nation here will gain the full Maximum 3.00 rating points to (43.0), likewise the losing nation will fall 3.00 rating points to (37.00). Winner will enter Provisional Ranks at P1 above Croatia (37.20), loser at P3 below Croatia and above USA Liberty P4 (31.58).
