Aussie X is a sporting program that takes footy, cricket and netball to Canadian schoolchildren.  This week they appeared on the Canadian TV show Dragon’s Den.   The program hosts businesses and entrepreneurs to appeal to a panel of venture capitalists to invest in their business or idea for a cut of the business.

Aussie X was chasing $150,000 to grow their business and expand their program (including potentially into America next year) in exchange for a 20% stake in their business. After a pitch and demonstration that went down well with the investors they were knocked back a number of times before Jim Treliving, Chairman of Boston Pizza responds to the call of “make us an offer mate”. He then offers $150,000 for 50% of the Aussie X business which after a short deliberation is accepted by the pitch team.

Youtube footage of the program can be seen below.

The Etobicoke Kangaroos Australian Football Club based in Toronto have established themselves as a local powerhouse after becoming AFL Ontario Premiers in 2 of their 3 Grand Finals they participated in recently.

Their Division 1 and 2 teams are 2011 AFL Ontario Premiers while their Women’s team are Runners Up in their inaugural season. The Kangaroos are the 1st club to have all 3 teams in Grand Finals in the same year.

This is Etobicoke's 2nd Division 1 Premiership after winning in 2008, while the Division 2 team clinched their 1st Premiership.

Below are the game write ups for each Grand Final, admittedly from an Etobicoke perspective.
