And of particular note is: Freo wins friends in South Africa by Ben Broad. In the story he reports on Freo securing two international sponsors to help support them with development in North West province. It's worth quoting a significant amount:

The two new financial partners are Nkwe Platinum, a mining company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange but with offices in London, Johannesburg and Perth, and Continental Capital Limited – a resource investment company based in Western Australia but with a significant interest in South Africa’s North West Province.

Both companies have joined Fremantle as a major strategic partner for the next two years.

Schwab said he hopes the club’s relationship with the two companies builds into a long and fruitful one.

“We’re serious about where we actually want to take this,” Schwab said of the club’s presence in South Africa.

“We don’t want this to be something that, in two or three years time, just fizzles out.

“We want it to be something that stays with us for a long time and for that to happen we do need the support of corporate partners.”

Schwab described Nkwe Platinum’s commitment to developing Australian football in South Africa as “outstanding”.

“While Nkwe Platinum as a business has significant interests in the North West Province, like Fremantle they are also strongly committed to local communities,” Schwab said.

“This partnership with Fremantle is further testament of that commitment in community programs and values.

“Their support is a significant contribution to the communities of the North West Province and the work our club will be doing in South Africa on a day by day basis.

Fremantle will wear the Nkwe Platinum logo in its game against Carlton on Saturday night.

Nkwe Platinum’s non-executive director, Sharif Pandor, said the move was “further demonstration of Nkwe’s commitment to giving young people of the North West outstanding opportunities to be involved in enjoyable physical activities that will help in every aspect of their lives.

“We look forward to a long and fruitful association with Fremantle in South Africa,” Pandor said.
