Saturday August 20th saw the first of the Semi-Finals in the British Aussie Rules Football League (BARFL) on Clapham Common in London, UK, the Regents Park Lions defeating the Hammersmith Magpies in the Conference match and Wimbledon edging out North London in the Premiership division.

Reports in the Australian and Irish press concerning the signing of Gaelic footballer Sean Cavanagh to the Brisbane Lions are premature, with discussions ongoing.

The Brisbane Lions have joined Carlton and Sydney in signing a Gaelic footballer, with County Tyrone player Sean Cavanagh agreeing to terms that will see him become an Australian footballer in 2006. Report from Jake Anson and Matt Guthrie.

The Leeside Lions are the 2005 ARFLI Premiers after a toughly contested Grand Final with the Dublin Demons in Kilkenny last Saturday. The Lions completed a clean sweep of all major honours offered by the ARFLI in 2005, also winning the pre-season Super 10s and the leading goalkicker award.

The Brit Cup is a mid-season carnival in the BARFL season where the clubs submit teams made up solely of "EU" (mainly born and bred British) players. This year's Cup on Saturday 18th June, was the 5th year of the concept and saw the best footy played so far.

This Saturday, June 25, will see the Ireland National Team play a challenge match against players from the rest of the League. In other news, local side Leeside took on a team from the HMAS ANZAC. Also previewed are the upcoming ARFLI finals.

On the 15th of June the 2005 Grand Final of the Lliga de Futbol Australià de Catalunya (LFAC) was held at the Muebles Pinky Oval in Valls, the Belfry Valls defeating Wendells Salou 6.4.40 to 4.6.30

Two well known internationals trying to make their way at the highest level of footy are Carlton's Irish recruits Setanta and Aisake O'hAilpin. The elder brother Setanta has received plenty of press and recently played his first game for the Blues, promoted from their VFL feeder club the Northern Bullants. But less is known about Aisake. The pair were recently interviewed on Carlton's Blues Club Corner radio show and the audio is available online.
